Payback in Wayback Review by Martha A Cheves Author of Stir Laugh Repeat Self derision mocked him What did he expect after spending twelve years in prison for Stir Laugh Repeat Self derision mocked him What did he expect after spending twelve years in prison for crime This was the first thing that I ead by this author so when I began eading this I wasn t sure what to expect at all Being a eader of anything with words though I ead on I m very glad that I did This is a fairly short book around 40 pages that tells a very full story with engaging characters a well defined plot line and a very strong endingThe author has a very good style to her writing She writes in a clear concise crisp way that keeps the eader interested and also keeps the story flowing from one thought to the next Actions that the characters do seem to be natural actions and eaction ather than forced or out of placed keeping the story practical and down to earthI don t want to give away the story so I won t say very much about it but the story
BEGINS AND THE READER MEETS COREY
and the eader meets Corey man who has spent 12 years in prison for a crime he didn t commit He s out of prison now and may want some answers from the one person the one woman who could have saved him from suffering the 12 years in the pen he had to endure Read the story to find out what happensIt was a pleasure eading this story and going on a short journey with these delightful characters By the end you feel like you know them uite well I eally enjoyed eading this and will pick up another by this author to see if the others are just as good if so then I would say this is an author I will be eading a lot by Great short story I didnt want it to end I love the surprise at the end Corey and Tiffany s love won over all the heartache Today I was lucky enough to get a free eCopy of Payback in Wayback from the author Lynda Coker It s the first book I ve ead by th. Contemporary Western RomanceBLURB Corey Donovan has just spent twelve years in a Texas prison for a crime he didn’t commit Now he’s a man bent on. .
Is authorThe book is about Corey Donovan Covington And Their Young Son "Covington and their young son Corey just been eleased from prison after serving a sentence of twelve years for a few crimes he did not complete Once he has been eleased he eturns home to the small West Texas town of Wayback and again finds himself in a elationship with Tiffany after many years apartThe overall plot is interesting Essentially it s about a man eturning home and trying to get some semblance of a normal life after prison There are times when there are odd scene changes or plot skips ahead so some portions of the story are a little bit difficult to follow I do like the overall story development though I think that the author made many good choices in terms of plot one example being that it was about the love story than that he was sent to jail However having said that I think that the mentions of his jail time were a little lacking We know that he did not commit either crime but I don t eally feel that it wasn t fully explained To me it seemed of a plot device to explain why they never got together years ago ather than a solid part in the story If we were to exchange the jail time with years ago ather than a solid part in the story If we were to exchange the jail time with simply moving away or something like that the story would not be much different The fact that it was jail ather than just being an absentee father for another eason just makes it seem kind of awkward in a way It just seems like the jail portion has no eal impact for meThe characters are intriguing I did like that Joey felt protective of his mother In many ways he seemed kind of mature and very understanding of what was going on Though in other ways he seemed a little bit demanding in other times Though I don t fault him for that I think it was simply him just being a kid Corey was fairly interesting though I felt that sometimes. Getting a little payback And who better to start with than the ecently widowed Mrs Tiffany CovingtonTiffany is both thrilled and afraid when she di. .

His feelings didn t exactly work well within the plot It just seemed like his feelings didn "t always match properly with what was going on or that his feelings changed on a whim "always match properly with what was going on or that his feelings changed on a whim no eal eason I felt that Tiffany was appropriately motherly that she was kind of worried about her Corey s presence for both of her child s sake and her ownOverall I liked the book Though it wasn t perfect no offense I felt that some portions could have been better explained and there ought to have had a little scenes dedicated to certain portions Having said that I appreciated that it was a nice uick ead Corey Tiffany and Joey s story was very sweet and it was nice to share it with them Payback in Wayback by Lynda Coker starts with a vivid picture of Corey a man betrayed by fate and by falling in love Of course falling in love with the Devil s daughter even if a very human devil could never be a very good idea Still by the end of the first chapter the eader knows enough to wish they knew and to feel the ache of tears behind the music of love gone bad It s time for payback in Wayback Texas but who will pay whom and how There are broken elationships and elationships wrong footed from the start And there S A Shining Hope a shining hope keeps the story going The author has a delightful way of portraying her characters feelings in simple details hands clasped too tight legs left limp after sitting under too much stress the sensual eating of familiar food And then there are the details of secrets whose surprises brand this tale with a delightful conclusion Wrong assumptions anger and egret all give way under laughter and innocence The story ends like a song drawn out to its beautiful final notes a eally fun lunch time ead or a bedtime story for weary moms with just the ight amount of pathos omance and mystery. Scovers Corey has eturned to the small West Texas town of Wayback She’s eady to epay old debtsuestion iswill Corey accept her currency of exchan.
